• Base-Breaking Character: While still popular overall, Leaf has earned her fair share of detractors due to her generous amount of screen time and Ship Tease moments with Red being seen as favouritism over the other love interests. Her proclaimed insistence on eventually winning Red over in Week 4 if he rejects her proposal for a date was also considered problematic and off-putting.
• Fan Nickname: The female and male Ace Trainers are known in the community as "Face" and "Mace" respectively.
• Jerkass Woobie: Blue is a prickly and insensitive person prone to lashing out over the smallest of matters, with Red being his most frequent target. However, Oak's neglect of him and clear favouritism of Red for his frienergy makes it clear how he ended up that way in the first place.
• Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Due to the nature of the game, it would be easier to point out which of his peers that Red isn't shipped with.
• LGBT Fanbase: As Red identifies as liking both men and women, the game attracts this. Popular pairings include Red/Blue and Red/Silver. Other characters such as Leaf and Whitney have also shown attraction to the same sex, with the latter identifying as a lesbian.
• Ship Mates: Blue/Yellow have become a fairly well-liked pairing since the latter's introduction in Week 5.
