YMMV / Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker

General examples

  • Awesome Art: Mike Henry did good on the human character designs, not to mention all of the concept artists such as Gus Mendonça. Djet as well, for the comic.
  • Older Than They Think: Tom had the idea for Poet ever since blink-182 took off, around the release of Enema of the State, predating the inception of Angels and Airwaves by a little under a decade.
  • So Okay, It's Average: To some. The storyline is based on a lot of Chosen One/hero's journey aspects that you have likely seen before with mainly the lucid dreaming aspects being the main thing differentiating it from similar media. However, Tropes Are Not Bad and if anything, there's somewhat of a consensus even by people who think the series is just average that the execution was done well.
  • What Could Have Been: Let this sink in: Tom actually pitched Poet to the rest of blink-182.
    • Early Concept Art hints at Poet originally having been intended as more of a "trickster" type character than a regular, if not somewhat cursed, teenager.

  • Complete Monster: In Poet Anderson...Of Nightmares & ...In Darkness, by Tom DeLong & Suzanne Young, the evil Nightmare Monster REM is a being that feeds on the fear and negativity of people in the waking world to grow ever more powerful. Seeking the soul of a Poet to allow him to cross realities, REM targets Jonas relentlessly, murdering his loved ones and taunting him every step of the way even when offering "alliances" that'd require Jonas to give up his body and free will to allow his world to become a nightmarescape. The most powerful entity in the dream world, REM and his Night Stalkers slaughter Dream Walkers by the dozens and also wreak havoc in the human world, unstoppable so long as the dream world itself exists and humans have things to fear.
