YMMV / Podcast: The Ride

  • He Really Can Act: The hosts and Sector Keeper voice actor Anthony Gioe do a really good job at selling the serious pathos of the Malltiverse of Madness finale, with Gioe transitioning between multiple roles as the Sector Keeper and both child and adult Stevie Kepner.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • The "Papa Scott" and "Mike Joins the Disney Daddiez" episodes are just dedicated to discussing the births of the hosts' first children.
    • Jason describing how his friends and family have come together to support him in the wake of his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis in "PTR's Orlando Odyssey 2023".
    • After several weeks of daily complaints about CityWalk (and particularly its bad food) in the Malltiverse of Madness, Scott confessing that he experienced a moment of real sublime joy while sitting at the Hollywood Margaritaville, listening to steel drum covers of music he loved in an area where he had many memories of friendship with his fellow hosts, is genuinely sweet (even if he does turn back around to criticizing the food soon after).
  • The Scrappy: Bugsy Malone was met with a good deal of criticism after his first appearance for overstaying his welcome and overplaying his shtick. This response became a Running Gag on the show as mentioning his name evoked responses of terror, culminating in him being sent to hell and his soul being purified in the 100th episode.
  • Tear Jerker: The Grand Finale of The CityWalk Orlando Saga: Malltiverse of Madness. After the boys complete the final sector, the Sector Keeper takes them on one more mission: to save his child self from perishing in the Dancing Fountains at CityWalk Hollywood so that he can undo his Tragic Backstory and live the life he never had with his family. However, this means that the Sector Keeper (real name Stevie Kepner) the boys know will cease to exist, and the man he grows up to be will not remember them. After the boys perform this final task and give their goodbyes, we get a post-credits sequence where the boys track down Stevie Kepner (now a successful doctor and a father to three boys), despite Stevie being unaware of who they are and the adventures they previously shared. And the kicker? Stevie's sons are named Michael, Scott, and Jason.
