YMMV / Pinkie Pie's Exciting Adventure

Go To

  • Ass Pull: As said in trivia, Casey feels this way about a few parts in Part 4. The reaction commentary seems to suggest that this appears to be most in the scene where Pinkie turns Fluttershy back to normal, where a power evoked by the ring and spellbook comes out of nowhere.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • Pinkie being turned small in Part 5 by the Unicorn can be considered this, since they don't try to take advantage of her in her current state, especially how she's back to normal size once her power sees a great boost.
  • Continuity Lockout: The series pretty much assumes you've seen TheInvertedShadow's The Elements of Insanity videos and the previous tennis series he and BriefCasey did together, which might not interest those who haven't seen either channel.
  • Growing the Beard: It's been noticable that various qualities improve as the Parts go on. The animation is better, along with writing, too but it's essentially visible in Part 5. Many people love how the story picks up in Part 5, compared to the previous 4 parts, with some already saying it's the best part in the series by far. Added with how there are more movements in the characters along with camera movements, there are a lot less static shots in this, all topped with the sudden dark twist on the story. It makes you wonder how future parts will carry out given what has transpired in Part 5.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • In Part 5, after Maud destroys the Bonk Golem and shows herself to Pinkie, her initial reaction is capable of bringing a smile to your face.
    • A minor one when Pinkie and the others free Rarity from the cage, and her reaction to how Pinkie held onto the ring. But that all gets shot down because of the unicorn...
  • He Really Can Act: He/She Really Can Act:
    • William Patterson as the Unicorn in Part 3 onward, when yelling, laughing maniacally, and even being choked, he pulls it off pretty well.
    • Vannamelon as Pinkie in Part 5. Her execution of Pinkie's emotions in that are quite impressive.
  • Narm:
    • Pinkie mispronouncing Pinkis' name in Part 3 can make it a bit hard to take her seriously in some bits. Though it doubles as Narm Charm since it grew on many people, even the creators and Vannamelon herself.
    • In a camera still focusing on Fluttershy in Part 4 with Pinkie speaking offscreen, the face on her may a look a little...odd.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Vannamelon started voicing Pinkie in Part 3, which was before she rose to popularity through her Fluttershy Plays series. Since she eventually branched out to other characters in similar Let's Plays, there are viewers that are surprised to hear Vanna's voice coming from Pinkie.
  • Shocking Moments: Just from how the story suddenly picks up in Part 5, such as the thing taking an emotional turn with Pinkie being forced to fight Rarity, the Unicorn reviving 7 of the Gang of 10 Greeds members, and lastly Pinkie's 11th-Hour Superpower.
  • Spoiled by the Format: Can happen quite a bit in some parts if the viewer keeps tabs on the playing bar enough.
    • Part 3: One can tell that the fight of the encounter at the end will happen in Part 4 since it's so close to the end.
    • Part 4: It can be easily seen that there is another cutscene after the usual outro given the length of the video.
    • Part 5: Did you really think everything for that part would be over once they got Rarity out of the cage when there's still a crap ton of video time left?
  • Tear Jerker: Has its own page.
  • The Woobie: Pinkie is pretty much this in Part 5. She finds Rarity, only for her to have been under the Unicorn's mind control, she is then separated from her friends, and is then forced to fight Rarity, turned into Nightmare Rarity against her own will. For a pony like her, it must be hard having to go through all of that. Though, Tormented suggests that it might get worse from there...
