* AudienceAlienatingEra: In early 2016 Paige turned face again after being too over to boo against [[DesignatedHero Charlotte]]. Unfortunately, at the same time she was demoted to being totally out of focus during a Brie Bella vs Lana feud of all things, and doing precisely nothing notable afterward until the brand split happened, when she was quietly taken off TV to have neck surgery. It's possible that Paige was intended to be used as the 2nd most prominent face on the Raw Women's division later in the year (a hole which Wrestling/{{Bayley}} would eventually fill), but the way she was used in the first h;alf didn't benefit anyone.

Names The Same is no longer a trope

** Depending on one's perspective regarding the name change of Paige's trio in the Divas Revolution. The trio was originally titled the Submission Sorority, but this was quickly axed after Google searches revealed that this is [[NamesTheSame already the name]] of a porn series, leading to the name change to PCB (combining each women's first initial). Fast forward a couple of years and the release of certain videos and... well, it's ironic.

Removing Flame Bait

* UnfortunateImplications: [[http://whatculture.com/wwe/4-ups-and-4-downs-from-last-nights-wwe-smackdown-may-21.php/4 During a shoot on the May 21st episode of Smackdown]], Paige refers to fellow diva Wrestling/TaminaSnuka as a guy and calls her Wrestling/{{Naomi}}'s "boyfriend", even going so far as to suggest that Tamina is "competing in the wrong division", since Tamina looks quite different from (i.e. less conventionally feminine than) the rest of the divas. [[http://danielinsomanywords.tumblr.com/post/119661484617/paiges-promo-or-wwes-insistence-on-having Critics have]] [[http://www.femmezuigiri.com/be-a-star-wwequal-gotyourback-and-wrestlings-viral-equality-facade/ pointed]] [[http://www.diva-dirt.com/110933/smackdown-redux-may-21st-2015-im-rubber-youre-glue/ out]] that it especially worrying that Paige is supposed to be the ''face'' in this segment and Tamina the heel, that the audience is meant to cheer Paige's insults at Tamina, and that on a more general note, transphobic/homophobic bullying is a favorite tool of WWE to get its stars over despite its anti-bullying campaign.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** Admittedly, Paige couldn't have known about Wrestling/SummerRae getting in Wrestling/SashaBanks's head, but after soundly beating Sasha (leaving her devastated and visibly upset), trying to console her and insisting on a handshake was ''not'' a good idea. Given that Paige was known for being an antisocial loner, Sasha may well have thought that Paige was trying to rub in the victory (even though she was probably just trying to be a graceful winner).
** Loses a title match against Divas Champion [[Wrestling/BellaTwins Nikki Bella]] because she [[TwinSwitch switched out]] with Brie, who had been hiding under the ring. (Also doesn't notice the difference between the now very conspicuously different-looking Bella Twins, who aren't even dressed the same.) Has an interview talking about how the Bellas have used aforementioned Twin Magic to undeservedly win matches for years and vowing to put a stop to them. Takes absolutely ''no precautions'' against it happening again, doesn't realize anything is wrong when Nikki comes out ''sans'' Brie their next title match, and again fails to notice when Twin Magic is pulled, only realizing it when Brie starts unstuffing her top and flashing her pelvic tattoo. Paige, c'mon, what were you thinking?

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* HeartwarmingInHindsight: The part of the documentary where she tearfully says goodbye to her parents before heading off to Florida. It's heartwarming now that she became the first NXT Women's Champion and has become a star already. Having to leave her family was all worth it after all. In the same documentary, while training at FCW, she expresses a slight disappointment about the emphasis on looks in women's wrestling. She says she hopes she can get people to appreciate the actual wrestling a lot more. The NXT women's division eventually became an EnsembleDarkhorse for the company and is routinely praised every week. So she ended up becoming part of a division that is very much appreciated for the quality of its wrestling. UpToEleven once she became the Divas' Champion on the night of her debut. ** Thanks to how pale she is compared to her opponents, coupled with the bright lights in the arenas making her look even more pale.
** From her return until her official retirement, she usually looked like she'd been shot full blast by the makeup gun (such as the "Paitch Face" mentioned above). Considering that around the same time she was posting much better looking photos on Instagram whenever not on TV, the general theory is that WWE's current "Glam Squad" makeup team is just awful at doing makeup on any skin shade that isn't AmbiguouslyBrown.

* MisBlamed: She catches a lot of heat from fans for the [[SpeakIllOfTheDead Reid Flair line]], but it wasn't her call. Rather, WWE was trying to garner some sympathy for Wrestling/CharlotteFlair after her face character failed to take off opposite the much (at the time) better-liked Paige. * CreatorsPet: An odd example in the year 2015. While not particularly hated by crowds, WWE essentially pushed her and ''only'' her for the Divas' Championship. Notably the only time another was pushed for the title was when Paige had to be PutOnABus to film a movie. Likewise despite losing each and every title match, she was continually given more. What's more is that she was the only Diva consistently pushed as a face, with literally the entire division going through a FaceHeelRevolvingDoor to accommodate her. [[labelnote:Ironically]] she would later cycle through the same revolving door to match the main roster storylines of her PCB teammates and NXT successors, but yeah.[[/labelnote]] She was also still pushed when she couldn't appear on Smackdown — due to acting as a judge on ''Tough Enough''. As such her universal popularity from NXT gave way to extreme BaseBreakingCharacter status. While she receives good reactions from fans in the arenas, online she sparks a polarizing reaction (with the only universally hated thing being the Reid Flair remark). There seems to be very little middle ground involving her.

Removing the discussion about her relationship with Del Rio; it leans way too heavily on the repercussions on her personal life rather than on her wrestling work, and while it is admitted in some cases (Romance On The Set), per Creator Page Guidelines, tropes should be related to a Creator's work, not their personal life.

* BrokenBase: Her relationship with Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio. On one hand, many feel they don't have the right to judge since they don't know the couple personally. On the other hand, what we do know by the end of 2016 is that the relationship is purportedly not even a year old, he's fifteen years older than her, he's still married albeit going through an ugly divorce with accusations on both sides, and he was in another affair previously with Wrestling/CharlotteFlair before moving on to her, yet she's already gotten two tattoos of the guy, got a Wellness vacation at the same time as him, and ''proposed and got herself engaged to him in another company's wrestling ring''; all of which many see as a very glaring red flag for her future. To make matters worse, TMZ recorded audio of Del Rio and Paige arguing at an airport, with police now being involved in an investigation. In an interview with Heavy.com after the incident, the witness said Paige blamed Del Rio for being verbally and physically abusive to her, as well as ruining her career. However, it should be noted Del Rio also claimed Paige was abusive to him. As in any "he said, she said" cases, whether one or the other, or even both of them, are actually responsible is largely indeterminable. While police leaned more towards charging Paige for the incident before eventually dropping the case altogether, both Paige and Alberto insisted that the incident was a simple heated argument overblown by the coverage, and continue to insist this even after breaking up prior to her WWE return in late 2017.

** In 2015 after she burned her bridges with Becky and Charlotte, they turned to Wrestling/{{Natalya}} to join them in a three-woman tag-team match against Team Bella. Paige was shown watching the match, and her behaviour and overall demeanor throughout the segment reek of ClingyJealousGirl with a side-order of "pining ex-girlfriend". This was only strengthened when she was asked for her thoughts afterwards and candidly said that she didn't like Natalya being around "[her] girls".

Moved to trivia where they actually belong.

* BrokenBase:
** She was pretty much universally popular in NXT, but opinions have divided on her since she joined the main roster in 2014. She's either a talented performer, great character and an iconic Diva in the making, or she's overhyped, average in the ring and has a [[RealWomenDontWearDresses cliché gimmick]]. And that's not getting into the growing contingent of fans who feel that she's gradually shifted from the former to the latter and accuse her of caring more about reality TV and Instagram modeling than about wrestling ever since her push tapered off.
** Her relationship with Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio. On one hand, many feel they don't have the right to judge since they don't know the couple personally. On the other hand, what we do know by the end of 2016 is that the relationship is purportedly not even a year old, he's fifteen years older than her, he's still married albeit going through an ugly divorce with accusations on both sides, and he was in another affair previously with Wrestling/{{Charlotte}} before moving on to her, yet she's already gotten two tattoos of the guy, got a Wellness vacation at the same time as him, and ''proposed and got herself engaged to him in another company's wrestling ring''; all of which many see as a very glaring red flag for her future.

** Depending on one's perspective regarding the name change of Paige's trio in the Divas Revolution. Submission Sorority was quickly axed as a name due to Google searches revealing that this is already being the rearranged name of a hazing porn series, leading to the name change to PCB, combining each women's first initial. However, those initials—let's remember, this is supposed to be the [[{{Face}} babyface]] team—are also shared with ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polychlorinated_biphenyl a synthetic biotoxin used as both fuel for old power transformers and as a GMO ingredient in foods]]''. Of course, thanks to jealousy and competitive ego on the parts of Paige and Charlotte, PCB was never built to last.

** During the ''Fighting With My Family'' documentary there's a part where her brother is talking about the injuries he's built up since he started wrestling at such a young age. This is putting him in comparison to her - who would ultimately have to retire at 25 due to the injuries she had acquired.

* HilariousInHindsight: A video from a promo class saw her trying to make nice to Bayley by dressing exactly like her and imitating her - only to get annoyed when Bayley rejected her. Already funny, it becomes hilarious with the knowledge that her feud with AJ Lee went exactly like that.
** In a darkly hilarious way, the reveal of new NXT title belts happening a few weeks after the nude photos leak, making it look like they rushed to get rid of the old Women's belt design after finding out what Paige and Brad Maddox did to it.

* MisBlamed: She catches a lot of heat from fans for the [[SpeakIllOfTheDead Reid Flair line]], but it wasn't her call. Rather, WWE was trying to garner some sympathy for Wrestling/{{Charlotte}} after her face character failed to take off opposite the much (at the time) better-liked Paige. (They also failed to ask permission or even ''inform'' Ric or Reid's mother, which was even worse.)

* ShortLivedBigImpact: Though she'd been wrestling since 2005, Paige was a main roster wrestler effectively from April 2014 to June 2016, with 2 years in developmental before that, and yet in that time she helped women's wrestling be taken seriously again, and even got a feature film made about her.

* VindicatedByHistory: Her FaceHeelTurn and feud against Charlotte was near immediately followed by Charlotte's FaceHeelTurn and feud against Becky Lynch, leading many fans to conclude this about her actions and claims towards Charlotte in kayfabe with the exception of the classless remark about Reid. "[[MemeticMutation Paige was right all along about Charlotte]]" is a strikingly common sentiment among followers of the storyline. Naturally, Paige turned up as a face a couple of weeks later.

** After she lost the title. The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZuRjEnhcqA fallout video]] is worse.
** The RAW after ''Wrestlemania 34'', she officially announced her retirement from in-ring competition due to a neck injury she suffered shortly after her return. As she was making her speech, Paige was clearly holding back tears. Just a small reminder, Paige is only 25 years old, and having to retire so young must be gut wrenching.

Has an interview talking about how the Bellas have used aforementioned Twin Magic to undeservedly win matches for years and vowing to put a stop to them.

** From her return until her official retirement she usually looked like she'd been shot full blast by the makeup gun. Considering that around the same time she was posting much better looking photos on Instagram whenever not on TV, the general theory is that WWE's current "Glam Squad" makeup team is just awful at doing makeup on any skin shade that isn't AmbiguouslyBrown.
