YMMV / Nymph and the Corrupted Miraculous

• Complete Monster: Xue Ying is the former Guardian of the Miraculous who is implied to have engineered the downfall of the Order simply for being failed. Reemerging 170 years later, Xue Ying attacks an unsuspecting Wang Fu and steals most of the Miraculous in the Miracle Box. Xue Ying then proceeds to perform a ritual to corrupt the Miraculous for evil use, before distributing them to various people to corrupt them to terrorize Paris, including Adrien Agreste, Lila Rossi, and Sabrina Raincomprix. After learning that Adrien's father, Gabriel Agreste, has the Miraculous Grimoire, she orders him to bring it to her, creating a series of events that breaks Adrien further. Following her initial defeat, she unearths the evil Miraculous known as the Null, using it to become Nihilumbra, despite the consequences of using it. Xue Ying then proceeds to launch one final attack on Paris, raising an army of the dead to tear the city apart on Heroes' Day.
• Epileptic Trees: The identity of Belle Aube was this for a long time, with the most popular guesses being Alya and Chloé. The latter turned out to be correct.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Marinette is revealed to keep a tiānshǐ in her Miraculous in case Catastrophe strikes while she's on the go. In the show itself, as of "Backwarder", Hawk Moth is revealed to do the exact same thing with his cane.
  • In the canon show, "Miracle Queen" has Chloé pull a Face–Heel Turn and side with Hawk Moth. Five days later, Chapter 27 of this fic was released, and Chloé is revealed to be Belle Aube.
  • Since Chloé is the Ladybug heroine here, the Bee Miraculous ultimately goes to her girlfriend, an OC named Zoe. The story was completed before the airing of season 4, in which a different girl with a connection to Chloé named Zoé got the Bee Miraculous. Though she's Chloé's half-sister instead of her girlfriend (which in itself might scare new readers into temporarily and accidentally thinking about incest based on the name alone). Zoé even develops feelings for the girl holding the Ladybug (though it's not reciprocated in the show).
  • The story centers around someone with noble intentions using the Butterfly Miraculous for good, something that had gone unexplored in the canon show at the time. As of the Miraculous Paris special, we finally get to see a canonical version of what this idea could look like, albeit with an alternate universe Good Counterpart of Gabriel being the wielder.
• I Knew It!: A lot of people correctly predicted that Chloé is Belle Aube.
• Take That, Scrappy!: In Chapter 32, Miss Bustier is turned into Mother Goose and is easily overwhelmed by Serpentina, Drone and Volpina because she sees Volpina and Drone as innocent teenagers who are being manipulated while thinking Serpentina can be reasoned with, making her the second champion to have her tiānshǐ destroyed by the villains. Asexual Individual explained that this was her way of venting at Bustier's canon-counterpart trying to make Chloé's bad behavior Marinette's responsibility without doing anything about it herself.
