YMMV / No Retreat, No Surrender

• Awesome Music: Kevin Chalifant's "Hold On to the Vision", which is better known today as the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Training Montage theme.
• Designated Love Interest: Kelly, who is supposedly an old girlfriend of Jason's but who first shows up about half an hour into the film with no real introduction, and hardly shows up again after that. Indeed, the person who shows up more frequently and who seems much more affectionate and close to Jason is actually R.J.
• Ho Yay: Perhaps don't do situps with your friend sitting squarely on your crotch.
• Nightmare Fuel: An instance that gets completely glossed over is when RJ leaps seated senton-style on Jason's abdomen while he is working out suspended between a bench and a wall. What happens next is that Jason simply falls down with his friend on him, which is played for laughs, but it might perfectly have gotten very bad for him had he landed over his neck and/or in a bad position.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Jason's father only warms up to his son's martial arts aspirations after Jason saves him from the bad guys. This, paired with his earlier scolding of Jason for fighting on the streets without bothering to check whether it was in self-defense, only makes Tom an incredibly hypocritical and egotistical parent to the viewer's eyes. To put it simple: Tom doesn't want his son to fight not even to save himself from a beatdown, and he only relents when said son saves him from a beatdown. Father of the year, indeed.
