- Creator's Pest: The author has made clear of his dislike of a few characters such as Sonia, Kokichi and Tenko. In fact, the decision to make Tenko the mastermind was exactly because of that.
- Downplayed with Miu. While Epic is a fan of the character, he was uncomfortable writing her vulgar jokes, hence having to kill her.
- Crack Pairing: The main pairings include Hajime/Hiyoko, Makoto/Mukuro, and Shuichi/Himiko, the former and later present in Island Mode and Love Suite event respectivly, and the middle elaborated in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF. However, it also has a few unique ships such as Komaru/Mondo, Kazuichi/Ibuki, Nagito/Teruteru, Nekomaru/Chiaki, Chihiro/Celeste, and Ryoma/Kaede.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Miu claims that the first version of The Shooting Clues (an in-universe Danganronpa game) had a cast of 16 people and a crazy bird. Hmmm...
- Take That, Scrappy!: The author has stated that he's not a fan of Sonia, and left her alive long enough for putting her through the third execution, which was intended to be the most brutal.
