- Anvilicious: "Blodeuwedd" veered into this territory by constantly bringing up Blodeuwedd's looks and Alex's crush to explain that "Looks aren't everything" and "be yourself".
- Arguably a Broken Aesop, too, since the mythical Blodeuwedd was a murderous Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who really didn't have any redeeming qualities outside of her beauty, yet the episode portrays her sympathetically because it's so hard being beautiful. The episode seems to have the message, "It's okay for pretty people to kill their loved ones because it's just so damn hard being pretty."
- Nightmare Fuel: "Minokichi" tended to scare younger viewers.
- Special Effects Failure: The Minotaur in the first episode is clearly just a man with fake horns.
