* OvershadowedByControversy: A fun episode that focuses on the Mane Six end up becoming overshadowed with the plot line of Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, more importantly, the moment where Dash trades Fluttershy's services. It's very easy to read up a summary and think it's a Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash focused episode because of it.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: The ending of the episode is more sappy than is usual for the show given all the gift giving.

** Rarity and Applejack's subplot in particular is dismissed to a RunningGag / FunnyBackgroundEvent after getting as much buildup as the others, and serves no purpose other than to establish [[CaptainObvious they're good friends.]] You could remove it entirely and not change the plot or moral of the episode at all.

* FridgeLogic:
** Stellar Eclipse's wheel"chair" shows a gear located at the base of each wheel. There's no apparent connection for it, but a reason for the gear may be part of a locking mechanism so that when he wants to stand still, the gear helps prevent the wheels from turning unless the pony puts force to go forward or back.
** Rainbow Dash says she's looking for a ''signed'' first edition of a Daring-Do book. Since she personally knows A.K. Yearling, why doesn't she just find a first edition and then mail it to her to sign?

** The moral of the story could've worked the other way around: On one hand, it could've shown that there's a thin line between keeping something for sentimental value and hoarding every single thing for the sake of hoarding. And on the other hand, even though there's nothing wrong with giving away stuff for money, you should be careful not to give away the things that really matter in your life.

* AccidentalAesop: The entire episode is a good demonstration of why money is valuable as a means of exchange, as it illustrates all the difficulty of determining value in a barter system.
