YMMV / My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (IDW) "Issue 100 to 102"

  • Anti-Climax Boss: A big complaint about the Knights of Order was that they were introduced and subsequently defeated in the span of 2-3 issues despite being supposedly the most experienced/powerful element users to date, making them feel very tacked on and forgettable.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: While the Knights themselves are fairly well liked for being Psycho Rangers to the Mane Six and standing out backstory wise, their invasion of Canterlot gets this due to, like several previous arcs in the comics, series, and movies, being 'the villains attack Canterlot and curbstomp everyone with no effort' (something Chrysalis, Lord Tirek, the Storm King, Cosmos, and the Legion of Doom in the Grand Finale have all done in the past) to the point it's stopped being threatening and just become cliché.
  • Moral Event Horizon: While they were already skirting it, Danu crosses this when, rather than accept defeat or listen to reason, he tries to destroy all of Canterlot and everyone in it.
  • Tainted by the Preview: The preview for the final issue revealing Discord caused the current mess again got ire from fans tired of how writers keep making him cause more harm than good, especially after how contentious the Series Finale was over it, despite unlike those moments criticized for Discord backsliding in his redemption this comic had it long before his redemption.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The Knights of Order are fairly well liked with understandable backstory for their motives and why they're against the heroes. Essentially where the Legion of Doom were just power hungry villains, the knights represent corruption in noble qualities that are otherwise meant to be help others. The problem however is that they only show up in the final two issues of the "season" that we barely get to know them with barely any build up before they go on the attack and are eventually defeated. Some prior encounters would've helped their build up a bit more.
