  • Ugly Cute: The orphanage children.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Yes, it's an animated film starring a group of young children. The film also features themes of child abuse, neglect, and sexuality.
    • The director of the film, Claude Barras said in an interview: "So, the adaptation was to open up this book which was for young adults to children." But the film is rated PG-13 in the US, due to differing values in France and America, while the film received a U (All Ages) rating in France. Therefore, it is actually very unclear whether the film is for children or not. The film is rated PG in the UK.
