  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Benji's speech to Swann about the significance of heroes is sincere, but it refuses to acknowledge Swann's struggles with his larger-than-life persona. Him saying he doesn't care if Swann's heroism is an illusion doesn't help his case either, since it's the major issue Swann has with himself.
  • Award Snub - One of the many times Peter O'Toole was nominated for an Oscar and didn't win.
Swann: Dying is easy. Comedy is hard.
  • Awesome Music: The musical has music by Ahrens and Flaherty, so you know this qualifies.
    • Of note are the songs "Twenty Million People," an opening number that sets up the chaotic world of live TV, "Larger Than Life," an adorable "I Want" Song for Benjy immediately after he learns that Swann will be on the show, and "Exits," Swann's Act II opener where he convinces Benjy to let him see his daughter.
  • Crazy Is Cool - Swann takes the reputation based on his characters and makes it work. Twice.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Benji saying that anyone who plays the accordion isn't funny. Somone would have to disagree with him.
  • Older Than They Think: We see a lot of footage of Swann from one of his movies that is obviously The Adventures of Robin Hood with the serial numbers filed off. Its title in this picture? Defender of the Crown (pre-dating the video game by 4 years, this is where Cinemaware took the title from).
  • One-Scene Wonder: The meeting with "Boss" Rojeck. Despite having only one scene, Rojeck and his threats makes it clear that he is the movie's Big Bad.
