YMMV / Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

Go To

YMMV Tropes in this game:

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!!: Strongly discouraged. Enemies are strong and will almost always have the advantage of numbers; picking them off one by one (using stealth and silent weapons) is almost mandatory, especially at higher difficulties.
  • Breather Level: The World Ender is a short level with no combat, good loot, and a significant cutscene. And after a tough level immediately before, Eden itself is quiet as a grave.
  • Complete Monster: High Priestess Plutonia is the leader of the Nova Sect, which consists of intelligent ghouls who want to destroy the world under the pretense of cleansing it of evil. In order to destroy the remnants of human civilization known as the Ark and the rest of the Zone, she kidnaps and mentally tortures a scientist from the Ark known as Hammon in order to get the sacred numbers that can launch the nuclear weapon that could obliterate the Zone.
  • Game-Breaker: Bormin's Hog Rush ability, which knocks the victim out for two turns. For some reason it's treated as silent, meaning you can have several rounds of stealthily focusing down a target rather than just one, putting a much wider range of enemies in stealth kill range, as well as making focusing down high health/armor enemies much easier. The only thing keeping it somewhat balanced is the fact that it requires kills to reset its cool down. It's even more of a Game-Breaker on Normal difficulty, since the cooldown counter resets every time you leave combat, which you'll do a lot of when picking off stragglers.
  • Goddamned Bats: Pyros throw Molotov cocktails, which do one point of damage per round on Normal. You will probably be more concerned about the enemies who can take out half of your health bar with one hit.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The Forbidden City was where the Red Plague started, and The Ancients put a wall around it to try to contain the outbreak. In 2020, the coronavirus outbreak started in Wuhan, and the Chinese government quarantined the city to try to contain the outbreak.
