YMMV / Musical Touken Ranbu Shizuka No Umi No Paraiso

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: What made Tsurumaru Kuninaga lash out at Mikazuki Munechika? From a logical perspective, nearly everything he said in his rant was hypocritical because, in addition to taking part in the massacre of the 37,000 Shimabara rebels, he also ordered his teammates to carry out the same actions because it was their duty as Touken Danshi and knew that Mikazuki had also joined in for the same reason. However, his rant was full of emotion, with all of his thoughts bottled up as he put on a brave face for his teammates for the majority of the story finally coming out. His rant could be interpreted as him projecting his grief onto Mikazuki, who he likely knew understood his pain regardless of logic. Or he could have been shifting the blame away from himself to make himself feel less guilty about his role.
  • Growing the Beard: Widely regarded as the series' second wind and one of the best plays in the series due to the story, acting, and message, with Okamiya Kurumu, Tsurumaru Kuninaga's actor, even receiving an award for his acting in the play.
  • Tear Jerker: While the scene where the older brother is killed is already upsetting to watch, the scene immediately following where Matsui, Urashima, and Hyuuga break down sob violently over not only his death, but what their roles as Touken Danshi entail, is even more so.
  • Values Dissonance: While everyone can agree that War Is Hell and that its sometimes not a black and white issue with neither side being entirely sympathetic, Paraiso seems to be sending the message that one shouldn't rebel against their oppressors because war should be avoided at all costs and the majority's peace should come before religious freedom, which is a sentiment most westerners would take issue with.
