- Creepy Awesome: The Sentries towards the latter half of the game. While their design has a very cool black and orange technological look to it, having to sneak by them to avoid their Instant Kill attacks can make them put you on edge.
- Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Reuniting with Quill after having been separated by Tylan's attack in Book II. She adamantly defends Readers to a skeptical other character, identifying the player Reader as her best friend, and when she can see you again she's so overjoyed she tries to give you a hug—which the player can reciprocate by petting her.
- Even Better Sequel: Book II is generally agreed to have built upon what worked in the first game in the gameplay, combat, and story, with more worldbuilding and a slightly larger cast of characters.
- Moe: Quill is generally agreed to be adorable, with most reviewers spending at least a few sentences gushing about how cute she is.
- That One Attack: In the final battle against Sarffog, it has two attacks that it switches between depending on where you are - it either spits slowly-charged fireballs... or it dashes through an entire area, essentially turning obstacle courses into timed missions, and the timing can be HARSH.
- Throw It In!: The idea of Quill using ASL was a brainstorm by Polyarc animator Rick Lico. He quickly mocked up and tweeted a video of her signing "Nice to meet you, my name" (fingerspelling) "Q-U-I-L-L." Response was extremely positive, and led to the addition of ASL to the game as well as additional hype for its release.
