YMMV / Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition

  • Game-Breaker: Ivan Ooze. For starters, he floats and can indefinitely stay at jump height, making it hard to hit him. Almost all of his attacks are projectiles, and while he has no supers, his attacks deal as much damage as some supers anyway. One of his projectiles automatically aims at the opponent, and two others fire homing projectiles that are impossible to dodge if the player is too close to him. Ivan cannot block, which he does not need to, since one of his homing projectile attacks makes him invincible for two seconds and can be performed while in hitstun. He cannot grab his opponents, which is yet another trait he does not need. His one close range attack is unblockable, has priority over almost all other attacks in the game, and hits the opponent across the screen, making them easy to hit with yet more projectiles.
  • It Was His Sled: Ivan Ooze is the Final Boss. The game hides this since he is not selectable, and Lord Zedd appearing as the Game-Over Man sets him as the last opponent, but Ivan's infamy as such a broken boss character means almost anybody familiar with the game knows he is the Final Boss.
  • No Problem with Licensed Games: While the game has a small roster of fighters, it is nonetheless regarded as a fun fighting game with unique mechanics.
  • That One Attack: Ivan Ooze’s Homing Projectile attack that creates a force field around him. The projectiles are almost impossible to avoid even with Lord Zedd’s teleport, and he cannot be damaged during the attack. He can even use the attack during hitstun. An Ivan Ooze player can win the fight simply by using this attack, and the opponent will never hit them.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • For whatever reason, only the season 2 Zords can be used in single player, meaning the players are limited to two fighters and cannot use any of the game's other characters in this mode.
    • Serpentera appears in the game but only as a decoration for Lord Zedd's stage. The giant Zord the Rangers could never defeat in the show could have easily been the game's Final Boss.
  • Unexpected Character: Silver Horns and Lipsyncher are both Monsters Of The Week from the show's second season who appear to give the game two extra villains, rather than Rita, one half of the show's Big Bad Duumvirate, or Rito, one of the Co-Dragons.
