• Creepy Cute: A kid Nui, at least up until she skinned a girl alive, that is.
• Iron Woobie: We also have this to a degree with Satsuki, who is generally one of the nicest people one can meet, yet, she's had to deal with her ex-boyfriend being killed and being blamed for it, along with his fiancee hating her and finding out secrets in not so pleasant ways, for example, finding out that Ryuko is her sister and that Ragyou is her mother. Yet, despite it all, she still keeps pushing, even when going through a really nasty Heroic BSoD and Break the Cutie period.
• Jerkass Woobie: Ryuko Kiryuin, to some extent, since mommy never really raised her properly.
• Moe: Nui seems to incite protective feelings.
• Nausea Fuel: Ryuko nearly losing her lower jaw in Chapter 12 is described in very stomach churning details
  • Same goes for Charlie Tapatio's demise in Chapter 15 and the aftermaths of Dr. Batty's murders in Chapter 19
  • Maiko Ogure losing her right eye from a shotgun blast in Chapter 18.
  • Ragyo Kiryuin and Dr. Richard Batty having (off-screen) sex in Chapter 22. Because of it being the aforementioned, it was revised (to elaborate further, it was onscreen).
• The Woobie: Poor Nui and, unlike Ryuuko, her life was never good to begin with and just as things were starting to look up for her, she gets knocked down pretty hard when her prescriptions were canceled against her will by her own mother. Damn.
