YMMV / Magic x Warrior Magi Majo Pures!

Go To

  • Adorkable: Rin is quiet, loves reading, and is generally serious... but she lights up when it comes to books. Her attempts to get closer to her crush, Teruki, are also very comical.
  • Critical Dissonance: Actually, it's the opposite: the critics love this show. But if you're over 10 years old, you probably won't like it. In fact, the official Magi Majo YouTube channel has at least a 1:4 dislike ratio on each video.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Yuria is very popular with the core demographic. In footage of their live performances, the little kids cheer the loudest for her, probably because of her costume design and the fact that she's the strongest out of the Magic Warriors.
  • Growing the Beard: Idol x Warrior Miracle Tunes! was unexpectedly popular and it led to better changes for Magic x Warrior Magi Majo Pures! For one, this time, all the Majoka Jewels collected get at least one use per episode. Second, there weren't as many blatant recap episodes as there were for Miracle Tunes, and the Frilly Upgrade didn't get shelved as badly during the final act.
  • He's Just Hiding: After Jamahiko was Purelized by the girls, it's unclear if he actually died or just disappeared and still alive somewhere. This was later confirmed during the finale, where he returns to aid the girls in defeating his father, Jama Baron.
  • Narm: Momoka uses the Heavy Tourmaline to make a fire hose heavy. You can tell the firefighters are pretending it's heavy, but in the background, one of the firefighters does pick it up as if it was nothing. It's obvious that he goofed, since another actor in the background slaps his arm as if to remind him that he's not supposed to pick it up.
  • Special Effects Failure: It's so obvious that the "light saber" that Kaoru fights with in episode 9 is actually a big LED lightbulb.
  • Spoiled by the Merchandise: Shiori joining the Magi Majo Pures was spoiled a month before the episode aired during press releases advertising the Majoka Palette.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Gran Ma's arc ended on a surprisingly underwhelming note where she basically gives up on fighting the Magi Majo Pures just to date Santa Claus in what should have been a Filler episode.
  • What the Hell, Costuming Department?: Jama Baron's outfit makes him look like an average Asian uncle who woke up on a bad day and accidentally wore too much make-up. His outfit looks lazily slapped together compared to the other villains, who have much more elaborate costumes. Sure, he's a case of Beware the Silly Ones, but it's hard to take the show seriously seeing him dressed like this.
