- Award Snub: Despite being Vindicated by History, and being called one of the great musicals of its time, this film didn't get any Academy Awards.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: A lot of reviewers have praised Myrna Loy's performance as Countess Valentine.
- Memetic Mutation: Chevalier singing "Mimi" got its share of imitators.
- Moment of Awesome: Jeanette gets one towards the ending when she outruns a train on a horse and stands directly on the railway tracks forcing the train to halt. The best part? This is the same woman who turned him away earlier and was overall pretty stern to him. This moment alone cements her role as a strong, and capable princess and just goes to show how far she had gotten since the beginning of the film.
- Slow-Paced Beginning: A couple of modern day viewers may not be very pulled in by the film's opening. Most critics and audiences agree that it's during "Isn't It Romantic" that the film really begins to find its voice.
