• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The 1980 film version became an almost instant Christmas classic in Germany.
• Memetic Mutation: Donald Duck's middle name is Fauntleroy, no doubt after his sailor suit.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Older audience tends to check out the 1980 version, only to see Captain Picard in a small role as the horse riding instructor to Obi Wan-Kenobi's grandson.
• The Woobie: Tom Tipton. His mother Minna, who'd abandoned him shortly after his birth, is all but stated to have kidnapped him from his father (her ex-husband), and forces him into something he really doesn't want to do so she can push him (and herself, by extension) to take Cedric's spot as heir. In most adaptations, poor Tom looks like he'd rather be anywhere else.
