YMMV / Lidia Charskaya

Go To

  • Narm Charm: Yes, Charskaya’s books are incredibly cheesy and her language is rather simplistic. However, the goodness and courage of her heroes still win the hearts of many generations of children.
  • Values Dissonance: Many darker-skinned heroines (in The Ugly One, The Boy etc.) are considered ugly by their acquaintances because of their skin color (especially if they are tanned white girls, since tan is a sign of spending times outdoors, which means the girl is poor and/or a Tomboy). Charskaya treats them sympathetically, but if they get a happy ending, it's with An Aesop of True Beauty Is on the Inside.
