  • Crosses the Line Twice: Book 2, Chapter 1's Frivolous Lawsuit. A man being upset and angry at his wife for giving birth to a baby that he doesn't love due to his high expectations? Heartbreaking (and sadly Truth in Television in some cases). The man suing his wife because the baby was "born ugly"? Too absurd to take seriously. The reactions of the other characters (including Beau wanting to apologize for the entire male gender on the man's behalf)? Hysterical.
  • Disappointing Last Level: Some fans find the Grand Finale rushed and point to PB wanting to finish Book 2 in 16 chapters like Book 1. Those fans expected Martin to have a Villainous Breakdown after the court proceedings, and Quinn, Aislinn and Gabe to give a "Reason You Suck" Speech to him. Fans also feel that there should have been one more chapter showing the collapse of McGraw Byrne due to all the scandals Sadie and Martin got the firm into, and Martin and Eli getting to continue to run the firm effectively makes them Karma Houdinis.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple:
    • Fans have been clamoring for Gigi and Beau to be love interests. Book 2 have the writers give the player the options to hook up with Gigi and her boyfriend.
    • A significant portion of the fanbase prefers the relationship between Quinn and Joaquin to either of the main love interests, due to their banter and Joaquin's flirty Wild Card nature.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Some players have nicknamed this series "Open Heart: Legal Edition" due to the profession based premise.
    • Gabe has been mockingly called as "Gaze Ricci" due to the way he looks at Quinn.
    • Some players have nicknamed Sadie "Shadie" after she decides to drop the Marcus Sharpe case. This evolves to "Shadie McSnake" when she's confirmed to be working with Peter Koenig.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: While playing "Screw, Dump, Marry" in Book 1, Chapter 12, Quinn can say that they would "screw" Sadie, much to the other characters' surprise (and Beau's embarrassment). Come Book 2, and they have the option to screw Sadie for real.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Peter Koeing crossed it by murdering Aliana Velazquez so she wouldn't expose his involvement in tampering with the environment (which had already made many people sick and caused the death of her brother years prior).
    • If Calvin Colby didn't already cross it by concocting the conservatorship scheme (which involved putting many rich elderly people in retirement homes against their will and stealing their assets) to fund his campaign, he definitely crossed it when he murdered an overworked social worker on the case, made his death look like a suicide, and set him up to take the fall for the entire thing.
