YMMV / La Pucelle

  • Author's Saving Throw: Although it doesn't come out and say this, Ragnarok shows that Demon Prier can appear as an Enemy Without, explaining Prier's changes in her Disgaea cameos.
  • Continuity Snarl: Trying to keep up with the status of Prier in her cameos can induce a lot of headaches due to the conflicting nature of her personality and backstory in said cameos. Her cameo debut as an Overlord in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness raised a lot of eyebrows for those who assumed the original game's Normal Ending was the canon ending (Even more so for fans outside of Japan as Disgaea was released before La Pucelle internationally) and it only got more confusing as Prier's personality swapped between the affable fight happy girl from the original game and the infamously ruthless Blood Knight introduced in Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories with each appearance. The Updated Re-release tried to rectify this by showing that she has the potential to have either personality. Even so, other details come back to make this confusing like her claiming that she lost everything and has no one left in Disgaea 5 when Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! showed that Culotte is still alive (Whom Prier had previously mentioned in Disgaea 3's Raspberyl Mode).
  • Evil Is Sexy: Eclair's Superpowered Evil Side wears nothing but lingerie. Demon Overlord Prier is also considered this.
    • Calamity is this as well. She wears almost NOTHING.
  • Growing the Beard: Arguably a case of this for Nippon Ichi, as most of their later games borrowed mechanics from this one.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Noir. He pulled an Eviler Than Thou on the supposed Anti Christ!
  • Moral Event Horizon: Noir all around acts far more cruel in the Overlord Prier storyline, but he really crosses it in the Bad Endings, where he kills Croix right in front of Prier.
  • Name's the Same: Don't confuse Homard's real name, "Potemkin", with the Guilty Gear character of the same name. His real name was given to him by his grandmother in the third Marl Kingdom title, Tenshi no Present, which never hit US shelves. His nickname is a pun on his real name: Potemkin O. Marl.
  • The Untwist: Alouette turning out to be the Maiden of Light and Croix turning out to be the Dark Prince. The game does such a poor job of keeping this a secret that in the LP archive Let's Play of the game, which depicts the plot as Prier telling a story of the game's events to the cast of the original Disgaea, Laharl figures it out and tries to say it, but Prier stops him.
  • What an Idiot!: In the good ending to the Demon Overlord Prier storyline, Noir tries to pick a fight with Prier and Croix, despite that Prier just showed that she was strong enough to PURIFY THE DARK PRINCE without killing him, and Croix still having all the powers he had as the Dark Prince.
