• Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Ittetsu Hoshi a flawed but well-meaning father? Or a selfish asshole so obsessed with his old glory as a baseball star that he'll force his son to relive his life?
• Never Live It Down: Ittestu being a horrible Abusive Dad. Even on this very wiki, he was voted the page image for the Abusive Parents anime and manga page!
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Whilst Ittetsu Hoshi's backstory is tragic, many don't feel that to excuse or justify his treatment of his son Hyuma.
• Values Dissonance: At the time when the manga was written, Ittetsu's behavior could be seen as simply a rather extreme case of Tough Love. Nowadays, he'd be straight-up considered an Abusive Dad. Even in Japan at the time, some people thought he was portrayed in too good a light.
