YMMV / Knights of Pen and Paper 2

  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: A criticism leveled at the game is that it is too similar to the first game, in particular with some game mechanics choices.
  • That One Boss: In 2, The Paper Knight and his gang is so hard even for seemingly the Final Boss (they aren't, as there is one more challenge after that). While first fought at tutorial, they're about as weak as you expect, and there's the Hopeless Boss Fight against them where you need to hold out until he and the rest gets removed from battle through "Clash of Editions", there's the proper final battle against him. He hits so hard (around 3000 damage! if he crits), making it extremely easy for him to One-Hit Kill all but your tankiest party members. Oh, and if you're trying to inflict statuses on him, he will pretty much resist every single one of them, on top of outright being able to No-Sell the Stun status (something that no other enemy in the game could do, not even the actual Final Boss). But the worst is his Orcnado, which is an AoE attack that is just as powerful as his regular non-crit attack and very capable of dealing a Total Party Kill. It is advised to grind a lot until you can afford Heavy Armor on all your party members and enchant them. This isn't even getting to the Final Boss, who while isn't as hard as to kill or hard-hitting, could possibly trap you in an unwinnable state. Good luck...
