• Anvilicious: Many people found the song about homelessness "Walking Down Madison" a bit heavy-handed.
• Covered Up: Tracey Ullman's version of "They Don't Know" is much better known than MacColl's original.
  • Ironic as the best-known song performed by MacColl herself, "A New England", has had further reach than Billy Bragg's original.
• Critical Dissonance: The critics loved her and she amassed quite a cult following, but she never really won over a mainstream audience. Her only big hits were "Fairytale Of New York" (on which she was a hired hand), "A New England" and "Days" (both covers) and "There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis" (a much loved oldie, but mostly by people who've never listened to the verses and think it's a novelty song about... well, a guy who swears he's Elvis).
• Friendly Fandoms: There is a lot of overlap between Kirsty's fandom and that of her Spear Counterpart (and on/off collaborator) Billy Bragg.
• Harsher in Hindsight: "Titanic Days" and "Can't Stop Killing You" both have lyrics about dying underwater, and appear back-to-back on her Greatest Hits Album Galore, making them even more eerie after MacColl's death from a powerboat collision while diving.
