YMMV / King Of Ring

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Albeit repurposed from elsewhere.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: The respawning enemies can be so annoying that it can be preferable to just jump over them and run through the stage, especially once you unlock Legolas and his double jump.
  • Foe Yay Shipping: From Saruman towards Gandalf, in only because he ends up unintentionally paraphrasing the love song from Aladdin.
Saruman: We can start a whole new world together.
  • Growing the Beard: While hardly flawless this was a big step up from earlier Syntax games, featuring more competent and elaborate game design.
  • Guide Dang It!: Beating the game requires finding several key items hidden in various locations, which basically has to be done through sheer trial and error.
  • No Problem with Licensed Games: Well, it wasn’t actually licensed, per se... but it is still a surprisingly playable game which at least somewhat follows the source material.
  • Signature Line: Probably a toss-up between “You’re not my best friend anymore” or “Only the friend of the midget can enter this place.”
  • So Bad, It's Good: The English script, which is just about everything you might want from a "Blind Idiot" Translation.
  • That One Level: The Bree section can be quite difficult, as the low roof makes it impossible to jump over enemies. On the other hand, there is also a huge gap you have to jump across, and failing that will force you to cross a fair chunk of the level again.
