- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Both "Freaky" and "Heavens, Mr. Evans." Whilst referring to important parts of the politics of the time — Alexander Downer's leadership of the Liberals and Gareth Evans' and Cheryl Kernot's affair, respectively — neither of them affect the rest of the plot at all.
- Genius Bonus: Why does John Howard make those high-pitched whistles at the start of "The Mateship"? He's dog-whistling!
- Ho Yay:
- "I Wanna Do You Slowly." The name says it all really.
- In a throwaway part of "Freaky", Downer tells Keating "Fuck me"... It's not really meant sexually, but given Downer is wearing a corset and fishnets, the mind wanders.
- Tear Jerker: "Light on the Hill."
