YMMV / Kamen Rider Zi-O: Over Quartzer

Go To

  • Alternate Aesop Interpretation: While Over Quartzer is a celebration of the Heisei Era as a whole (inconsistencies and all), SOUGO's plan to replace the Heisei Era with another "more consistent" one by slamming two realities together makes him come off like a strawman of fans focused on lore; tinting the celebration with a Take That! whose message amounts to "don't sweat canon, just embrace the camp."
  • Complete Monster: SOUGO Tokiwa/Kamen Rider Barlckxs is the leader of Quartzer. Orchestrating the events of Kamen Rider Zi-O, he, after Sougo unlocked Grand Zi-O's power, sent Kagen and Jogen to the Sengoku Era to eliminate Krim Steinbelt's ancestor and thus prevent the creation of the Drive Driver, which would in turn negate the Grand Zi-O Ridewatch. When Black Woz steals Ridewatches and delivers them to SOUGO, he reveals that he was the mastermind behind Sougo's rise and how he used Sougo as a "body double". Defeating Zi-O and imprisoning him SOUGO begins his ultimate plan: to use a portal to smash the World of Zi-O into the world from the first year of Heisei and erase the history of the Kamen Riders, so that he will rule it as King of Time; said plan, if successful, would destroy all life in the multiverse. When Black Woz betrays him, Tokiwa stabs him with his sword.
  • Narm: Right before the final kick (during the closeups on the belts), the rapid switches constantly cut off the voices. It only gets worse as it nears the end.
  • Narm Charm: Is having the logo of their series behind the Riders during the final kick silly? Yes. Does it make it any less awesome? No.
  • Unexpected Character: While it was expected that just about all the main Heisei-era Riders would return, several spin-off-exclusive Riders also showed up: Kamen Rider Brain; the title character of Kamen Rider G; Kamen Rider Zangetsu-Shin; the 2015 manga version of Kamen Rider Kuuga; and the Kamen Sentai Gorider; but most shockingly of all, the main character of Kamen Norider, an unofficial parody of Kamen Rider from a Japanese variety show.
