- Broken Base:
- Like a few other DCAU spin-off comics, this one has its share of detractors for doing Superman a huge disservice and going out of its way to make him unlikable, with criticism that the idea that Superman would become so evil as the Justice Lords one does, is completely missing the point of Superman as a character and as The Paragon. Sounds familiar?
- Wonder Woman's use in this story did not make many Wondy fans happy with her, once again, being a love interest prop in the character arcs of a Superman and Batman.
- Harsher in Hindsight: In "A Better World", the episode starts with Lord Superman, Lord Batman, and Lady Wonder Woman in the opening scene where they take down President Luthor. Wonder Woman kills Batman, and she in turn is killed by her League counterpart. Superman is banished to the Phantom Zone.
- Moral Event Horizon: If Lord Superman wasn't already on the other side of this line, he definitely crosses it here. He had recovered his son, and has a chance to go home and end the conflict with the Justice League. Instead, he announces that his world will be united by a common enemy, the Justice League and their Earth, and he fully intends to wage war against them.
