  • Alternative Character Interpretation: A few for La Femme. Many feel that La Femme (including her actress Beatrice Dalle) is misunderstood given what happened to her and that she isn't necessarily "evil". Another theory floating around (due to Sarah's comment about there being no survivors) is that she died in the car accident and is a ghost haunting Sarah.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Sarah has a dream where she starts vomiting, followed by her baby bursting out of her mouth.
  • Faux Symbolism: The house number being 666, coupled with the Christmas setting and the seemingly teased Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Tahar Rahim goes from trying to protect a heavily pregnant woman here to killing one seventeen years later.
  • Les Yay: In one scene, Le Femme gets unsettlingly intimate with Sarah. Later on, when Sarah is about to give birth, La Femme comforts her and tells her that she's right here...while cutting open her stomach with a pair of scissors.
  • Narm: The third officer returning to life, and almost every scene with Abdel. The former is somewhat understandable given that he didn't get hit with the riot gun directly and was just blinded, therefore he wasn't dead to begin with, but the fact that he somehow isn't seen or heard for a good while makes his sudden presence extremely jarring.
  • Nausea Fuel: Literally all of the gore, with special regard to the infamous caesarean section, which is often regarded as quite possibly one of the most graphically violent scenes in cinema history.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Watching this while pregnant is ill-advised, doubly so, since these sorts of things happen in real life.
  • Special Effect Failure: The in-utero baby, and a brief shot of the Aerosol Flamethrower.
