• Broken Base:
  • Thanks in large part to the oneshot ending with Miwa and Saeko breaking up and becoming Amicable Exes the series actually starts with a broken base as more than a few fans are weary to get invested in the relationship if it means they eventually break up like in the oneshot. Others though would point out the series doesn't follow the oneshot exactly, given how much more invested in the relationship the two leads are comparatively, and that even if they do break up it's not a reason to give up on the series itself.
  • Fans have mixed opinions about the localized title as well. Some think a literal translation would have worked fine, or dislike that the English title can sound awkward if you don't understand that "Relationship" is being used as a verb (meant to emulate the casual sort of Buffy Speak often used by young adults) and not a noun.
• Woolseyism: In Kan's flashback with his mother, she tells him that his name means "end," and that she named him that so he could end anything he started by himself. The English translation changes this to her saying that she named him that because she wanted him to be someone who "kan" do anything all on his own and be independent.
