YMMV / Go Eat Worms!

The book contains examples of:

  • Anticlimax Boss: The giant worm. Even defenders of this book will probably admit that it was unusually short, as this was built up to, foreshadowed, and has a Chekhov's Gun, yet it only takes place for a couple of chapters. Subverted with the twist ending, which many say was more climactic.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The part where Todd and Danny encounter a vicious dog while checking out a house at night. Has no bearing on the plot, and is just as quickly forgotten about.
  • Broken Base: Is this book one of the best in the series for having clever plot twists and a satisfying ending, or is this book one of the worst for having such an unlikable main character and an uneven story?
  • Catharsis Factor: The ending, in which a giant butterfly comes by with an enormous metal pin, intending to kill Todd with it. Given how awful he was throughout the whole book, it feels relieving to readers that he probably got what was coming to him eventually.
  • Karmic Overkill: No matter how you think of Todd, his implied impalement at the end can come off as very extreme given how gruesome it is. It doesn't help that Goosebumps has many other characters who make Todd look like an angel by comparison and got off easier.

The TV episode contains examples of:

  • Just Here for Godzilla: Many Total Drama fans have only shown an interest in this episode just so that they could see Regina be played by Kristin Fairlie (who'd later go on to play Bridgette and Carrie on Total Drama).
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Before becoming a record producer with the stage name "40", Noah Shebib played Todd.
    • As cited above, before playing Bridgette and Carrie on Total Drama and it's spin-off, Kristin Fairlie played Todd's little sister, Regina.
