YMMV / Game Over: Control-Alt-Death

Go To

  • Cliché Storm: Particularly the beginning, where Drexel is established as a powerful artificial intelligence, all leading up to the revelation that Drexel is evil.
  • Designated Villain: Steve treats the Net Police officers like terrible people and cogs in an authoritarian system, despite the fact we never see them do anything malicious or morally-questionable and are willing to protect Steve even though he's a jerk to them. Both of them ultimately lay down their lives in the name of doing the right thing, protecting Steve, his lady sidekick, and the world.
  • Narm: The main scientist who worked with and on Drexel describes video games as though they were a drug habit (the phrase "gateway games" is used unironically). Video game addiction is a thing, but the movie treats them like heroin.
  • Narm Charm: Stupid? Yes. Unintentionally hilarious? Also yes. Watchable? Surprisingly, yes.
  • So Bad, It's Good: It's a movie made out of Sega CD clips. This was the best it could aspire to. It does rather well.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Drexel, the AI obsessed with video games, has some potential... but instead is wasted as a bog-standard "evil computer". The little kid voice they use throughout (even taking into account that they had to change Walter Koenig's dialogue to fit the movie's plot) just makes it impossible to take seriously.
