- Hilarious in Hindsight: The episode "The Spyder Man", at one point, features the titular villain's spider-robots being crushed by a falling Road Roller-da! (identical in appearance to the one in the latter anime).
- Older Than They Think: The trend of anime-inspired Western animation is often thought of as having begun in the 1990s, or the 1980s at the earliest. But Frankenstein Jr. was the first American animated series to be directly inspired by contemporary anime tropes.
