  • Ass Pull: Not being shown any discernible good reason why the obviously not guilty defendant is convicted in "The Vast, Immovable Object" doesn’t in any way explain or give good reason for it other than to have a Downer Ending.
  • Broken Base: Many people are torn over the main cases of "Rahowa" and "Flippity-Flop", and almost certainly it was meant to be intentional. They both involve the defense defending people who, while technically innocent, are incredibly despicable (a neo-Nazi and an abusive DEA agent respectively). On the one hand, it's seen as highly disrespectful that the defenders are required to take cases that blatantly conflict with their views, and immoral for them to put the same time and effort into their defense as others. On the other hand, it's pointed out several times that they have to do their job to the best of their ability for everyone, because if they start making exceptions then they can't be guaranteed to give adequate defense to those who do deserve it (which is close to Truth in Television). For what it's worth, both situations are painted as negative—neither defendant is portrayed sympathetically and when the DEA Agent is found Not Guilty it's treated as a travesty rather than a victory.
