YMMV / Fire Emblem Light Inheritors

Go To

  • Anticlimax Boss: Bloom is technically one, since he uses Tine as a hostage and it ends up with Arthur creating an opening so that Leif can stab him and be done with it.
  • Ass Pull: The only thing Bloom can say to Leif's anger toward him is not because he basically invaded Leif's territory, but it's the fact that he wasn't the one who killed Leif's parents. But Bloom does something worse in the manga and that's killing his sister.
  • Base-Breaking Character: In regards to this manga, Ares is one because his attitude is either annoying and hypocritical, or it's a major part of his character.
    • Arthur. His overprotectiveness of Tine is understandable when she was with Bloom, but once she's recruited there's really no need for it, unlike Ulster since Iuchar and Iucharba constantly flirt with Larcei. And even with his mother's genki personality, Arthur can come across as annoying.
    • Leif, or specifically his characterization. He's either the comic relief to the always kind Seliph and serious Ares, or his somewhat incestuous subtext with Seliph, played up in this manga, is kind of disturbing, especially for an otherwise well-written character compared to others.
    • Then there's Nanna. She doesn't get much screentime, but when she does, she's clingy to Leif and jealous of Seliph. Those who don't ship Leif and Nanna won't have a good time, and those who do don't know if they like this interpretation of their relationship.
    • Lana. She's either a suitable love interest for Seliph, or her romance with him is shoehorned in at the last possible second (even with the manga's cancellation). What doesn't help is that her brother, Lester, has a more believable relationship with Patty, which even becomes a main factor for Febail's recruitment.
  • Broken Base: The general consensus is that this manga isn't as good as Oosawa's, but there are some who state that this manga has its moments. What doesn't help is that the Fuyuki manga was scanlated before Oosawa's.
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Bloom's defeat, even at Leif's hand, is much more satisfying when you know that he killed his sister in this manga.
    • Patty yelling at Febail pre-recruitment, especially when he shot Fee and Lester, the latter being Patty's boyfriend and their cousin.
    • Seeing Leif work together with Seliph in defeating Travant is also this.
  • Complete Monster: Bloom and Travant both abuse Tine and Altena respectively, making it harder to sympathize with them in this manga. To take it a step further, they also kill the parents.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • One for Febail: Yeah, he accidentally shoots Lester. But not only is Lester his cousin/biological half-brother, that's Patty's boyfriend. She calls him out on it.
    • Also, for Febail, his role is ascended to the point where he becomes an easily recognizable side character, compared to his boring status as "Brigid's major-blooded son" in Genealogy (and, on that note, his mother was recruited through a filler arc anyway). It leads to him losing his crush to the main character.
  • Memetic Badass: Febail is easily one due to his upgraded role, shooting two characters, then getting yelled at by Patty before being recruited. What helps is that his holy blood is discussed and that his personality is more like Patty's rather than his tough personality in-game.
  • Memetic Mutation: "My body is ready." The context is supposed to be that Leif's ready to meet Seliph for the first time, but the way he says it and his facial expression doesn't help.
  • Moe: The manga's in a shoujo style, so a lot of the girls end up like this.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Most of the fathers or father-figures abuse their daughters/daughter figures.
  • Narm:
    • Of course, the aforementioned "My body is ready" quote.
    • Seliph's hair down just makes him look like a girl. He sports this look while he sees a child die in a fire.
    • Ares in general is just this, even without Leif butting in.
  • Never Live It Down:
    • Nanna's clingy personality. She's supposed to resemble Lachesis, but she comes off more as a jealous wife. Funny enough, the one she's jealous of is Leif's cousin.
    • On Leif's end, he'll never live down from "flirting" with Ares and Seliph.
  • Shipping: The official ones are Seliph/Lana and Lester/Patty. The rest are just ship teases or unrequited crushes.
  • Squick:
    • Ares going after Julia can be this. He's 20 years old while Julia is at least 15, so it sort of comes off as weird.
    • Same with Lester/Patty. It's one of the official couples, but it's still incest. Febail crushing on Lana can be this, too.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Even with the manga, Diarmuid still doesn't really get any scenes for himself, and his cousin and sister get more prominence.
    • Iuchar and Iucharba merely serve as annoying suitors for Larcei after their recruitment. It's possible they could have an arc when they realize their brother Brian is still on the side of the Empire, but the manga got cancelled before it could even happen.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Arthur. His overbearing attitude, unfortunately, covers up his true intentions of saving his sister Tine from Bloom's clutches and instead makes him an annoying older brother.
  • The Woobie:
    • Seliph. His father died in the Battle of Belhalla and his mother was forced to marry his uncle, leading to him becoming an orphan and having to be raised by Edain, Oifey, and Shannan in Tirnanog. Not only that, but the manga plays up his broken ace issues and makes Seliph a bit concerned about his leadership abilities.
    • Leif. He lost his parents and sister to the Yied Massacre and had to run from his homeland in order to fight back against the Empire that invaded it. In the manga, Finn told him his parents died of disease so that Leif wouldn't immediately go after Travant. On top of that, the events of Thracia 776 didn't happen so Leif didn't get to experience lovely safe havens in Alster, Tahra, or even in Fiana. The only thing Leif has got going better for him is that he has a girlfriend in Nanna.
    • Ares. His father was beheaded by Chagall when falsely accused of treason, and his mother was killed by the Empire, cursing Sigurd's name and blaming him for Eldigan's death. And, since Lene, and by extension, Javarro, don't exist, Ares had to live on his own for his entire life. At twenty years old, all he wants is revenge against Seliph.
