• Narm: Aside from being an Unintentional Period Piece, the actor playing Santa Claus tried a deep voice — and ended up sounding like Grover/Yoda.
• Nightmare Retardant: The aliens are not scary in any way, being tiny paper mache puppets with bobbing heads and no moving mouths. The sequel gave them (limited) moving mouths, teeth and legs... and managed to make them look cheaper.
• Padding: A third of Slay Bells is a recap of the original film, which is odd because of the Negative Continuity.
• So Bad, It's Good: Watch this movie with the right mindset and you'll probably enjoy it a little more.
• Special Effect Failure:
  • The Polonia brothers went out of their way to hide the fact that they only made two cheap alien props, even for scenes where there should be more. Most of the time, they're not successful.
  • The effect of Derek taking a picture from his perspective is the Video Toaster camera aperture transition effect.
  • The aftermath of an alien attack on a hospital patient is some blanket that looks like it's edited by a computer paint program.
• Unintentional Period Piece: Welcome to Pennsylvania of the mid-1990's. Mullets everywhere!
