YMMV / Fast & Furious

  • Growing the Beard: The first three movies were focused on being crime dramas with street racing as a central theme, with Tokyo Drift even being centered on completely different characters. This film brought back the primary cast of the first film and turned it into more of a straightforward action movie that had an excuse for high octane chase scenes. The following movies are where it pushed well past its' origins with spectacular action sequences and became a worldwide blockbuster franchise, while the critical reception improved due to being more spectacle driven. This film acts as a bridge between the two.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Even though this movie takes place 5 years after the first one, Brian still demonstrates his loyalty to Dom. He never arrests Dom when he has the chance to and even tells him to run when he has to.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: During the opening truck robbery, one character notes “Banks don’t move.” Tell that to Fast Five.
  • Ho Yay:
    • At the end, it's Brian who has Dom's cross. You know, the cross Dom's had since the first movie. The cross Dom gave Letty when he left to keep her safe. Yet Brian feels comfortable hanging it from his mirror, and Mia, Dom's sister who knows the significance of the cross, lets him?
    • Even more so when Furious 7 reveals that the cross was what Dom used in place of a traditional WEDDING RING when he married Letty.
  • Memetic Mutation: You don't have a 5-Gear Manual, you have a 26-Gear Manual. Explanation
  • Tear Jerker: Letty's supposed death.
