• Franchise Original Sin: This was notably the first episode in which Lois cheats on Peter, something that would become a Running Gag in later episodes, showcasing just how awful their marriage is. However, it's much more tolerable in this episode; Bill Clinton, whom Lois slept with, was very persuasive (enough that Peter slept with him too), Lois genuinely regretted her actions and went out of her way to make it up to Peter, even letting him sleep with another woman to make them even. Later episodes would have Lois doing things like tonguing the host of Family Feud and making out with Meg's boyfriend just because Peter made cracks about her age, all with none of the remorse or justification displayed in this episode.
• Harsher in Hindsight: In this episode, Peter attempts to sleep with Lois' mother Babs, but ultimately decides not to. 16 seasons later, on the episode "The Munchurian Candidate", he inadvertently gives Babs oral sex under hypnosis and ends up traumatized from the experience when he snaps out.
