• Broken Base: You're either on Brian's side and you're glad he tricked Quagmire into buying that crappy condo with his bonus, as payback for the latter's hypocritical hatred of him. Or you're on Quagmire's side and you're glad he beat up Brian after he lied to Quagmire about a condo and later successfully stalled Quagmire, making him unable to get his money back, despite Quagmire being the one who gave Brian the money to repair his teeth. Either way you look at it, they’re both unreasonable bastards who don’t see eye to eye.
• Catharsis Factor: Whether you sympathize with Quagmire or not, seeing him brutally crush Brian's teeth with a lamp is quite rewarding in and of itself.
• Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: The Griffins family, especially Peter and Lois, border this during the beginning of the episode. Despite not being involved in Brian's real estate scam, the two act extremely insensitive to Brian's predicament. Peter's shenanigans fighting over Brian's toy rope is what caused his injury in the first place, and yet he receives no comeuppance for his actions and is never called out for them. And Lois mocks Brian by refusing to take him to the hospital and calls him a "deformed animal".
• Love to Hate: Brian scamming Quagmire is quite despicable, but at the same time incredibly cunning and masterfully planned. For bonus points, he uses one of the reasons to why Quagmire hates him as the biggest part of the plan: pretending to be a deep guy. Though he loses his teeth, it’s a temporary problem and Brian has successfully scammed him off millions of cash. It’s a much bigger victory than all of Quagmire's triumphs against Brian combined.
• Nausea Fuel:
  • The injury leading to Brian's dental surgery. He loses his teeth, and his nose droops crookedly over his mouth. As Quagmire puts it, his face looks like a used condom.
  • Twice, Peter gets out of a discussion he's not interested in by sticking a pair of scissors up his nose until he starts bleeding, then opening the scissors to bleed even more as an excuse to leave.
• Tear Jerker: In the beginning, Brian loses all of his teeth and his nose gets completely smashed thanks to Peter's stupidity and to add insult to injury, Lois refuses to pay for Brian to get medical help and the whole family laughs at him.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: While Quagmire helping Brian get his teeth fixed was a kind act and Brian thanklessly swindling Quagmire out of his huge bonus in order to sell him a run-down condo as well as distract him from the 72-hour return policy with a fake My God, What Have I Done? speech was a huge dick move, there's the fact that Quagmire's hatred toward Brian is utterly hypocritical and has proven to be no better than Brian (if perhaps even worse) on what he calls Brian out on, so one can actually see Quagmire getting scammed as an act of karma.
