YMMV / Fading Afternoon

Go To

  • Difficulty Spike: As you progress through the game, the enemies will get harder and your deteriorating health bar will mean fewer mistakes can be made.
  • Goddamned Bats: You're guaranteed to encounter bottle tossing mooks in every fight. Getting hit with a bottle will hurt and interrupt any combo you've started. Fortunately each mook only has one bottle to throw and are easy to deal with afterwards.
  • That One Boss: The hardest fight in the game is funnily enough the old fashion duel with Harada which is the only fight in the game that can be considered a traditional boss fight. He is the only opponent that you can't instant kill counter and no weapons are allowed, so you have no choice but to fight with old fashioned fisticuffs. Unfortunately, what adds to the difficulty is that your opponent's attacks can't be reliably blocked anymore. He’ll more often then not dodge and counter your combo finishers, grapples, and takedowns. The trick is to stay on the offensive and then momentarily back away from him intentionally interrupting your attacks and then quickly attack again to steadily chip his health away until he falls.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Many players dislike that Maruyama will always lose max hp each time you go to sleep no matter if you avoid getting hit in fights or avoid partaking in unhealthy habits. There is no way to increase his max HP. Yeo is adamant about not changing that though.
