One website even took it a step further and published a news article titled ''"Lee Hong Ki and [=FTIsland=]'s 2015 [=FTIslandxThanx=] Tour is coming to the US!"''[[note]]While said website is a KoreanDrama site and simply highlighted Hongki's name since he's a well-known idol actor, it doesn't explain why the title was worded in a way that made it look like Hongki isn't even in FTI.[[/note]]

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: The characters in Hongki's "Insensible" MV - did Hongki really cheat on his significant other, Park Shinhye, or was he faithful to her all along? Did he genuinely lost interest in her or was he just a workaholic? Did Shinhye imagine everything due to paranoia (or even mental illness), or was she right about her suspicions? Did she or did she not commit suicide at the end? According to an interview, Hongki himself thinks it was all in her head.

* IdiotPlot:
** The climax of the "Severely" MV where [[spoiler:Hongki dies saving AOA's Seolhyun from getting hit by a car]]. Except many people noticed [[spoiler:the car wasn't anywhere near her when he got hit and could had avoided dying]]. Probably more of a problem with the editing than anything else but it's still doesn't explain why [[spoiler:he couldn't simply pull her to the side (which he ''did'' do before) instead of running in front of the car]]. Seolhyun's character is also disturbingly careless when crossing the road, walking on a red-light ''twice'' simply because she's wearing earphones.
** "I Wish" MV, where Music/{{AOA}}'s Hyejeong seems to be in a happy relationship with all the members (except Hongki) at once. Without any of them noticing. Despite them very likely living in the same house. And none of them ever get resolved.

* ReplacementScrappy: Seunghyun was looking to be this as he had over 2000 antis when joining and replacing Wonbin. However [[AvertedTrope he soon won the hearts and respect of the fandom.]]

* TastesLikeDiabetes: Many other of their LighterAndSofter B-sides, especially their older ones, due to the overly sweet lyrics. The best example is their self-titled song "FT Island", due to the corniness of the lyrics and how cutesy it is. Just hearing the words "chocolate" and "puppy" in Engrish is enough for English-native speakers to cringe. It's endearing for fans though and was a must-have for concert set-lists for the first few years.

* FandomRivalry: While FTI and CNB get along well and support each other, their fandoms... are very split. This is due to the two being both the most popular idol bands in Korea ''and'' under FNC. Thus, their fans have become very nasty to each other and look down on the opposing band's achievements just to make their bias band look better, and are sensitive to any differences in treatment the two groups get from their company.
* FriendlyFandoms: Despite the strong fandom rivalry, there are also just as many rational fans who also like/respect the opposing band, sympathising with the troubles both groups have as a band. They understand that the two bands are not to blame for each other's downfalls.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: They fare much better in Japan than Korea. Justified as Japan is more band-friendly and they went indie there before their major debut. It helps their singles are never remakes of their Korean songs, they're more fluent in the language than other Korean idols promoting there and that majority of their self-composed songs are for their Japanese promotions. As a result, they are more active there than in Korea.

** "I Wish" is either a good EarWorm or too generic for the band.

* EarWorm: Quite a few of their songs, especially ones where the chorus repeats lines/words:
** "I Hope" - it's very common for fans to be singing the "barae" lines ''very'' loudly.
** "Flower Rock" - ''everybody, HANDS UUUUUUP".
** "Love Love Love" - ''annyeong nae sarang sarang sarang!''
** "Hello Hello" - the "hello hello" and "goodbye goodbye" lines are infectious.

* ToughActToFollow: ''Colorful Sensibility'' and "After Love" didn't fare well unlike its very successful predecessor ''Cheerful Sensibility'' and "Lovesick". This was partly due to being released after a long absence from the kpop industry, and partly due to the album sounding too similar to the previous one. ''Jump Up''/"Bad Woman" didn't fare much better either.
* YokoOhNo: Averted mostly since the members don't hide that they date (they just don't say when) and most fans are perfectly fine with that. Exceptions come up though; some fans hated Fuji Mina when she and Hongki filmed "We Got Married" and have called her ugly, stuck-up and too boring/not good enough for Hongki.

* CounterpartComparison: What they, labelmate Music/CNBlue and both fandoms have to grudgingly deal with. Both are from FNC Entertainment and the two most popular idol bands in Korea. Thus people are quick to compare them in terms of music and success - even though both have their own charms and taste in music.

* AwesomeMusic: Whether it be made by a well-respected producer or the boys themselves, the group certainly gives out a lot of this.

** Nothing intense, but there are fans who prefer their older rock ballads (up until "Bad Woman" era) and don't like their change of direction, while there are also fans who dig their rockier sound change and couldn't care less for their older music.
** Fans either like Han Seungho the good and beloved CEO or hate the greedy and inconsiderate CEO.

* FanPreferredCouple: Though of course none exist (probably), fans prefer the following ships the most due to the amount of ShipTease and HoYay they give; Jonghun/Hongki, Hongki/Jaejin (yes those two are ''very'' even in terms of supporters and fanfics and it doesn't help that not even Hongki could decide between the two), Seunghyun/Minhwan.
* FandomRivalry[=/=]FriendlyFandoms: While FTI and CNB get along well and support each other, their fandoms... are very split. This is due to the two being both the most popular idol bands in Korea ''and'' under FNC. Thus, their fans have become very nasty to each other and look down on the opposing band's achievements just to make their bias band look better. Yet somehow both sides refuse to admit their own wrongdoings and [[BlatantLies proclaim they've been nice to each other and have done nothing wrong]]. These fans have a hard time dealing with the irrational fans and give up trying to reason with them.

** Hongki's bad singing moments, notably the Gayo Daejun performance in 2008 and his offkey moment in the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" cover.
** Jaejin was once caught farting in the car, so since then all car-farts are blamed on him.
** Hongki would mention Jaejin's break-up non-stop during "I Wish" promotions.
** The members to Jonghun and him crying at one of their Japan tours.
** Non-humorous example: ever since Hongki said they were CN Blue's labrats, everyone seems to want to take a jab at either bands and compare them or ask them about their rivalry, which both parties (and fandoms) are clearly sick of.
** When talking about their success people will never fail to comment, "If only they didn't go to Japan at the peak of their popularity." Though many will argue Japan is also the best thing it's ever happened to them.
* PortmanteauCoupleName: For the noteworthy pairings, Jongki (Jonghun/Hongki), Seunghwan (Seunghyun/Minhwan), Seungjae or Seungjin (Seunghyun/Jaejin) and Hongjae (Hongki/Jaejin).

* {{Shipping}}: As expected of any kpop fandom, there are many ships involving these guys.
** Nearly every pairing within the band have their shippers due to their close friendships which of course is all the shipping fuel needed for most fans.
** Seunghyun and labelmate Music/{{Juniel}}. They're often found next to each other, were playful together when pre-recording a Gayo Daejun collaboration and there's a photo of them and other members at a staff wedding with Seunghyun's arm around her. It helps they share(d) the same guitar teacher. Though Juniel has denied dating rumours, it hasn't stopped shippers from dreaming.
** Jaejin and Music/{{AOA}}'s Mina have their fair share of shippers, despite not showing much public interaction. This seems to be due to fans noticing the two having worn the same bracelets once; though it's common for idols in the same company to wear similar clothing due to sharing a sponsor, the discovery was made after Jaejin admitted he was dating and refused to say who it was, which lead to much speculation. It helps she was his wallpaper once and that he (and CNB's Jungshin) helped her with the bass predebut.

* {{Squick}}:
** Seunghyun chose not to join SM Entertainment because part of the contract was to sell ''rights to his body''.
** Some were disturbed upon finding out Hongki's love interest [[Music/{{AOA}} Seolhyun]] from the "Severely" MV was born in 1995, hence nearly ''5 years younger'' than him and making them 17 and 21 at the time. Thankfully the most intimate they got were two brief hugs and holding hands.

* YokoOhNo: Averted mostly since the members don't hide that they date (they just don't say when) and most fans are perfectly fine with that. Exceptions come up though:
** Some fans hated Fuji Mina when she and Hongki filmed "We Got Married" and have called her ugly, stuck-up and too boring/not good enough for Hongki. Thankfully they're only the crazy minority of the fandom; most fans liked her and even joked she's the one who's too good for him.
** One female friend posted a photo of her and Hongki (and a AKB48 member) on her instagram in about May 2014 but then deleted it - and some fans saw this as her "being an attention seeker" and "pretending that they're secretly dating". The ridiculous overreactions were thankfully short-lived.
