  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • Espionage missions. All three take a rather good while to perform, have a rather high fail chance (Influence, the "low-risk" option, has a noticeable fail chance of around 25-33%, Sabotage and Incite have more) and if it fails, the spy gets executed and you have to train another up which takes money and a great bit of time, even with a few Boot Camps to reduce it. What makes this much more frustrating than combat is that you cannot abuse Save Scumming for this — the result is determined as soon as the operation is selected. Alleviated once Governors are unlocked, which can be tasked with spy recruitment and operations, allowing the process to essentially run itself in the background.
    • Terrorist attacks after Unification. These can randomly occur after you have unified all the nations and will wound (or even kill it happens in quick succession) huge amounts of your soldiers. Unlike enemy nation attacks pre-unification and demon attacks in the Hell Dimension, this cannot be prevented or repelled in any way and only serves to temporarily damage your soldier count and food/fur income, making sure that your Hospitals are Not Completely Useless after unification.
