  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Souga suffers from this. To some, he is a good wingman and a good friend to Hotaka, for facing Niki and forcing her to take some action towards the main character. For others, he is a playboy who toyed with On-chan's feelings and got away with it. Doesn't help that the manga didn't give him enough time to better his relationship with his kouhai, as the manga was cut short of only 23 chapters.
    • Is Niki suffering a case of Break the Cutie or is she just a Yandere?
  • Audience-Alienating Ending: According to quite a number of posts on Reddit, the ending felt disappointing, with the relationship between the two main characters being broken up when they turn out to be siblings, reverting everything back to where it started, and none of the issues present being solved in a satisfactory manner.
  • Creepy Cute: Niki DEFINITELY falls onto this after The Reveal. Her self praises only make it all the more apparent.
  • Informed Wrongness: On-chan upon not taking Souga's chocolate at first. Souga is always jumping relationships, keeps trying to get physically close to his kouhai despite her clear display of distaste to that behavior, and acting like breaking up means nothing to him. However, it is On-chan who gets portrayed to be on the wrong for not caring about Souga's feelings when she confronts him about the chocolate. If anything, she has all the reasons to be at least suspicious of this act, given his usual facade.
  • Moe: On-chan. At least, her female senpai seems to think she is.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Souga toying with On-chan after her confession can be seen as this. He deliberately did this to make her hate him, claiming to himself that being hated is wonderful, because then they won't hurt each other. Never mind that he did this by hurting her feelings a couple of times, which led her to hurt him physically.
  • One True Threesome: Seeing how Niki has shown signs of finding On-chan cute, and the later's relationship with Hotaka is full of chemistry, it wouldn't be weird to find those who ship this love triangle. Poor Souga, though, being the only one left. Maybe not that poor, though.
