YMMV / Erin Esurance

Go To

  • Awesome Art: The art and animation is surprisingly rather high quality for a commercial from the 2000's, which is probably part of why some viewers mistook the ads as an actual cartoon series.
  • Best Known for the Fanservice: Considering the egregious amounts of Rule 34 that there is with Erin, it's pretty easy to guess how some people came to know her. The fact that she's quite pretty and wears a Spy Catsuit doesn't help. In fact, this was part of the reason she was cancelled.
  • Condemned by History: Erin Esurance was once quite popular, but by 2010 (six years after her debut) she had become pretty unpopular, doing worse than Clippy in a survey of corporate mascots. Oh, she did have fans... the wrong kind, that is. Thanks to her attractive design, she gained a Rule 34 following, with pornographic fanart of her frequently showing up alongside official images on Google, stigmatizing the character and forcing Esurance to get rid of her to avoid association with pornography. Aside from this reason, she was also made fun of by the media as well, with other insurance companies mocking the mascot for undermining the company by implying how childish it made them look and even Robot Chicken lobbied a pretty harsh Take That! at the character by portraying her as a coldhearted Jerkass who let a customer be murdered just because he didn't have the most up-to-date coverage.
  • Memetic Mutation: "Wait, your insurance doesn't cover rear-end collisions!"note
  • The Scrappy: Polls indicated that Erin Esurance was unpopular with viewers, with 30% of viewers polled finding the character annoying.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The voice acting is weirdly enunciated or a Dull Surprise, but since these are commercials from the 2000's, it's passable.
