  • Common Knowledge: The heroes' superior in the second game was not Evil All Along nor did he have a Faceā€“Heel Turn. He was Killed Offscreen by Mask De Pedro, who explicitly says "Your captain is long dead!". This confusion seems to come from the fact that De Pedro is never seen undisguised, not helped by him appearing earlier to capture the President's Daughter in Route 3, in which case there'd be no indication there's an imposter or that the real captain is dead if you hadn't done the other routes first.
  • Spiritual Successor: Johnny Nero Action Hero can be this to this game; while this game is a beat 'em up, Johnny Nero Action Hero is a Light Gun Game in vein of Virtua Cop and Time Crisis, developed by American company Play Mechanix rather than Japanese company Sega, and instead of being inspired by Die Hard, it's inspired by Star Wars/Starship Troopers, Raiders of the Lost Ark/The Mummy (1999), A Fistful of Dollars, and comic books. Both this and Johnny Nero Action Hero had Quick Time Events are interspersed between many of the scenes. Failing a Quick Time Event results in either a loss of health, as is usual for QTEs, or an additional action scene which the players otherwise would not have to complete, but the only difference is in Johnny Nero Action Hero, involving a Quick Time Event leads to a mini-game in vein of Play Mechanix's other game Big Buck Hunter.
