YMMV / Dusk's Dawn

Go To

  • Ass Pull: When Breeze Rider swipes the sceptre. It was never explained or foreshadowed outside of a Chekhov's Gun moment.
  • Anticlimax Boss: They seem to treat Dark Dusk's Scepter as some kind of Powerful Weapon, already incapacitating Doughnut and Star Whistle struggling, in her conflict with Dusk, but Breeze Rider just comes in, with a towel, and grabs it in that, with no issue. Even Dusk is puzzled at what just happened.
  • Cliché Storm: Obviously Evil Generic Doomsday Villain, an Ensemble Cast mirroring the Mane Six, and the villain tries to convince the heroes that he's changed, only to be hatching another plot.
  • Ending Fatigue: After the heroes defeat the villain, we are treated to… Donut walking through a corridor for an extended period of time talking to himself about how bored he is.
  • Narm: Hoo boy. Where to begin?
    • When Donut saves Star Whistle from the villain's sceptre, he shouts, "No!" like someone scolding his child rather than in despair.
    • Just before that there's also Dark Dusk's highly infantile response to Donut shouting "Freeze!": "Freeze? I'm way too evil for that!"
  • The Scrappy: Some people really don't like Breeze Rider. The fact his accent sounds disturbingly similar to Tommy Wiseau probably hasn't helped.
  • So Bad, It's Good: Big time. It is pretty much a My Little Pony equivalent of The Room (2003). The hilariously sloppy writing, voice acting, pacing, animation, and Narm provide a high entertainment value and a good laugh.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The general consensus on Youtube is this.
  • Special Effects Failure:
    • The "fight" against a possessed Star Whistle. The amount of wind physics failures goes beyond Artistic License.
    • In the same 'battle', when Mister Brave looks behind him, you can see his head is a flat object, rather than seeing the front of his face, as he looks?
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Breeze Rider is a boy. A cursory glance at this trope page will show you how difficult it is for the audience to pick up on that.
  • Wangst: The only son of the De Noir's "illusions can't help" speech is viewed as an Info Dump of a generic sob story rather than something tragic.
