YMMV / Dragon Ball Super Future Trunks Arc

• Complete Monster: Zamasu, in his Goku Black, Future, and Fused incarnations, manages to be one of the most vile beings in both the anime and the manga.
  • Anime: Zamasu is a former Kai from Universe 10 and apprentice to the Supreme Kai Gowasu, having a strong distrust towards the mortals, because they keep making the same mistakes. Once Goku shows a power capable of rivaling the gods, he considers the mortals as inherently evil and dangerous. Eventually falling into villainy, Zamasu plans to eradicate all mortals in the multiverse, with a scheme that he calls "Zero Mortal Plan". To enact this plan, Zamasu murders his own mentor Gowasu, stealing the Potara earrings to usurp his status as a Supreme Kai, and the time ring to travel through timelines. Then, he travels to another timeline to collect the Super Dragon Balls, exchange his body with Goku's and kill him right in front of his family, before killing them as well, solely out of spite. Knowing that no one would be willing to help him for his plan, Zamasu, as Goku Black, formed a team with a future incarnation of himself. Together, they proceed to travel to Trunks' timeline to destroy the Super Dragon Balls so that there is no way to reverse their plan, slaughter all gods to keep them from interfering, destroy many planets and slowly reduce humanity to near-extinction. Upon fusing together, "Fused" Zamasu proceeds to cause mass destruction on Earth just to demonstrate his power as the "ultimate god". When Trunks manages to destroy his physical body, Fused Zamasu's spirit survives, and attempts to exterminate all life throughout the multiverse by merging with it, extending the effect on other timelines. In all of his incarnations, Zamasu is a petty, hypocritical, and sadistic narcissist who thinks that the world should be reshaped in his own vision.
  • Manga: Zamasu proves himself even more petty and egoistical than in the anime. Learning about Goku, Zamasu is insulted by the idea of a mortal with such strength existing and starts planning to wipe out all mortals in the multiverse. Killing his mentor Gowasu and stealing the time ring, Zamasu switches bodies with Goku and kills him before traveling to Future Trunks's timeline. Zamasu, now known as Goku Black, kills Future Gowasu and recruits his future counterpart. Together they kill the gods of the future timeline and wipe out mortals across the multiverse, scheming to spread their genocide across other timelines. Coming to Earth and sadistically wiping out its inhabitants, Goku Black toys with Future Trunks and mocks him about all the people he failed to save. Faced with time traveling Goku and Vegeta, Goku Black and Future Zamasu decide to kill all remaining humans, with Black even impaling time traveling Gowasu before fusing together into the self-proclaimed "One true god of the multiverse".
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • In the Funimation dub, Kid Trunks argues against Future Trunks' explication of time travel by using the content of movies, much like James Rhodes and Scott Lang would do years after.
  • The Big Bad is a god who firmly believes that Humans Are Bastards and rebelled against their fellow gods because they disagreed with their ideology of observing and guidance through inaction? Only to then gain a new, much stronger persona in order to commit genocide against all mortals in order to recreate the universe into what a "perfect" utopia should be? Are we talking about Zamasu or the Star Princess Ophiuchus?
• Squick: Present!Mai falling for Present!Trunks would be cute, especially with hints of him having a crush as well... If it weren't for the fact that she's actually much older than him and simply stuck in a child's body with all her memories intact.
  • On the other hand, the Pilaf gang has never been very mature...
    • Plus her being stuck in a child’s body likely means she has a child’s brain chemistry even if her adult memories are intact.
